Chirophonetic therapy is a holistic form of body therapy in which touch and speech sounds are combined for therapeutic purposes. Through rhythmic, stroking movements on the body, speech sounds are transmitted, which can have a regulating effect on breathing, heart rhythm and the vital processes within the body.
The method was developed by the Austrian curative educator and speech therapist Dr. phil. Alfred Baur and is based on the principles
of anthroposophic medicine as well as an expanded theory of language and sound.
Chirophonetic therapy can stimulate the body’s self-healing powers, stabilise the nervous system and harmonise physical
and mental rhythms. It is used with both children and adults.
Areas of application for Chirophonetics
The therapy can be of supportive benefit in cases of:
• Speech development delays and speech disorders
• Developmental differences in children
• Concentration and learning difficulties
• Inner restlessness, stress and exhaustion
• psychosomatic complaints
• emotional distress and traumatic experiences
Chirophonetics can be a valuable support, particularly in child therapy. The treatment promotes language development, perception, concentration and emotional stability, and strengthens the child’s natural developmental and vital forces.
The therapy is tailored to the individual, mindful and oriented towards the person in their physical, emotional and mental wholeness.
